How to do a Machine Embroider Applique.
1. Load the design into the machine.
2. Hoop the stabilizer ( light to medium weight) and your chose of fabric.
3. The first line of stitching will be the out line of the design. This is our placement stitching. The machine will stop.
4. Place a piece of your fabric over the outline stitch. Make sure it is large enough to cover the placement line of stitches. Hold the fabric in place. You can use sticky tape but I find that is more bother. Watch your fingers.
5. Next will be the tack down stitches. . My applique designs are digitized to have 2 rowsof running stitches and then the zig zag. After the 2 rows of running stitch, stop the machine. The machine will not stop on its own as there is no color change. Take the hoop out of the machine – Do not unhoop the fabric. Trim your fabric close to the running stitch with a good sharp curved pair of scissors. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of a pair of good sharp scissors to cut the fabric. I find that doing the trimming after the running stitch – avoids the stray bits of fabric thread from popping through the satin stitches of the applique.
6. Place the hoop back into the machine and continue sewing the zig zag line. The tack down stitches are complete.
7. Almost there. The machine will now sew the final stitches. This is usually a satin stitch, putting the finishing touch on your applique
8. You're done! Now unhoop your design, admire your creativity. See how addictive machine embroidery appliques are?
