Digitizing is the process of creating digital stitch data for embroidery machines to read and stitch out. Embroidery machine work a bit like plotters, moving the hooped fabric to coordinates or positions where the needle will stitch. Machine embroiderers who want to create their own unique designs use special software to create this data. Early versions of software required the programmer to enter a design stitch by stitch. As computer technology has evolved so has embroidery software. I have used many brands of digitizing software from the domestic market, and find Bernina Designer Plus to be the most user friendly. The resulting embroidery designs stitch out beautifully. The process is by no means childsplay, but with practise and experience excellent results can be achieved. To help anyone who has this software I have created a number of video tutorials. You will find many of them under Bernina Digitizing Tutorials All new tutorials will be embedded in posts under the Digitizing category.
